Roll over MIM Fenders and EphiphonesJun 18, 2008 I have been playing guitar for 25 years and own a Strat, Ibanez(with Lindy pickups) and two Tom Andersons.
[...]
I ordered the hardtail version of the guitar with 2 P-90s(Amazon was out of stock) so I bought it from www.rondomusic.com. The guitar arrived in a weeks time. I had to set the intonation for the strings (took me 15 minutes only). Of course I removed the plastic on the tortoise shell pickguard. I like to age my guitars so that the nail and pick marks show on my guitars.
I recorded "Tore Down" (Clapton version) using the SX, Tom Anderson, Strat and IBZ guitars....This guitar I will take for a gig. I play the blues a lot and this guitar has a really good tone and body contour actually helps to relax the arm while playing. I have a maple neck (although I prefer a rosewood) but the maple neck did not feel hard. TRhe fret ends are not as smoothed out as Tom Anderson but hey...An Anderson costs 1700 bucks. This guitar is 160 bucks. Is the sound 10X less than an Anderson...No not at all.
I tune my guitar like it were a buzz feiten so I play the notes way up the fretboard and do many note checks before I am happy with the tuning and I have to say that this guitar passes my strict tuning tests.
The P90s although a little shaky deliver the punch. Initially I thought I would replace then with Gibson P90s but have decided against it.
This guitar is a reminder that the Fender MIM versions and the Gibson Ephiphone versions are seriously overcharging for mediocre products.
You get (more than) what you pay for...Mar 25, 2008 Well, as a pro/semi-pro player wanting a Jazzmaster guitar, but not wanting to blow the bank on it, since I would never play it out, this is very useful. The tuners are junk. The knobs and switching is questionable. The grains don't match in the burst finish. Trem is only adequate.
...but the glossy finish is put on well, and the vintage tint looks pretty nice as well. Tone is excellent, right up there with guitars costing 10 times as much.
And that is what it's all about. If Fender made this same guitar you can bet they would add 100.00 worth of improved hardware and 1,000.00 to the price tag.

great guitar, better priceFeb 22, 2008 SX SJM62 Electric Guitar 3-Tone Sunburst Finish
I just received this guitar today, and I was blown away by it. I'll admit I was a little apprehensive when I bought it, but thought if nothing else I could change the pickups in it, and have a decently playing guitar. I was wrong, the only changes that I'll be making to this guitar is just a heavier set of strings. There's not as much buzz as I was expecting. If you use really heavy strings you'll have to change out the bridge, but that's the case with all Jazz/Jag copies and even the originals. The guitar comes with black pickup covers instead of the white that were pictured, but I think the black ones look better. If you're thinking about buying this guitar, and are unsure about it, I would suggest getting it.

Consider the sourceJan 27, 2008 Check out your local guitar retailer, then order this. The previous reviewer was crying about two broken strings. A real guitarist would have to put a fresh set on right away regardless of how it may have been shipped. Not being able to get the plastic film off the pick guard sounds like a personal problem to me--no dexterity or practical skills or knowledge of what different materials do and how they react to each other. Anyway, check out the reviews at HarmonyCentral.com--I think you'll come back here to buy this guitar.

Great price....not so great guitar.Aug 14, 2007 This is a very nice looking guitar. Other than that, there's not much to brag about. I received this guitar and two of the strings had already snapped, which is fine because I can replace them myself, but there was a film of plastic on top of the pick guard that I still-today cannot completely remove. I can even get passed that, but not 2 hours into play, the whammy bar broke off inside the guitar. It is a poorly crafted guitar, and feels cheap. But I guess you get what you pay for. I would only recommend buying this for room decor, not to play.
