Nice Buds, but I like it louder!Dec 06, 2008 First, I really dig the sound these ear buds put out. Second, they are the most comfortable ear buds I have ever tried. No ear fatigue or soreness after 5 hours of mowing my lawn. Speaking of which I use a loud riding mower to mow and these noise canceling ear buds cut out the mower noise 95%. I love them. The only thing I would improve is MORE VOLUME! I love it loud and even though the noise cancelation helps most folks not need to turn the music up, I like volume. Great buds. Oh yeah, my first set became full of ear wax from mowing in the summer with them. The right ear bud became clogged. I sent them back and got a brand new set from Shure! They were awesome! But they did warn me to keep them clean as they would not send me another free set if I clogged them again. I think that's fair!
Great evolution of the ShureJul 10, 2008 This is the 3rd pair of Shure's I've owned. First (e2c's) got caught in an elevator door. my own darn fault. Loved 'em so much, bought the e3c's with overnight shipping. Loved the e3c's, had them for 3 years. Use them all the time. eventually the cord wore out and the connection started going out.
these are good. anybody who complains about bass response probably hasn't got them fitting right. The new foam sleeves are pretty good, but frankly I miss the old ones with the flat ends. The tapered ends tend to go in too far, or get folded together and block out the sound. Once you get the fit right, they sound great. In fact, I almost feel they sound too good, and show evidence of fishy-sounding compression on some of my older MP3's when I was encoding at 160 or 192Kbps. Most headphones aren't good enough for that to make a difference. In fact, with these headphones I'm noticing details in songs I've never heard before.

The headphones are good, the cords broke downMay 02, 2008 Within 9 months of using them in mixed weather, e.g. cycling and hiking in winter conditions the cords on these headphones started to crack ultimately ruining the headphones.
The headphones themselves are good and I'm considering getting new ones, but the cords themselves can't be directly exposed to bad weather over a prolonged period or they'll crack and peel off.
Outstanding (although pricey)Apr 09, 2008 If you can get a good deal on these, you should go for it. I replaced my defunct Etymotics ER-6s with these, and I couldn't have made a better choice. Great bass response, clarity all around. Comfortable fit and good accessories.

It saves to be a skepticApr 08, 2008 I bought these headphones thinking you just can't put a price on sound. After receiving these Shure 310 headphones in the mail, I was impressed with the case, number of different ear buds to best fit and conform to your ear, and the instructional booklet which made me think these were the real deal. Sadly, these put out as much sound as my Sony and Bose headphones did. Minus the bass which was superior in both my Sony ($50.00) and my Bose ($90.00). These are probably the ugliest earbuds I've ever worn as well. You go to the gym wearing these and you'll most definately feel like a fool. They stick out rather ridiculously.
I wish now in hindsight I would have gone for the Klipsch brand, as my buddy has a pair of those and swears by them. Just make sure if you do decide to buy these, look around for the cheaper price. Most dealers have a list price of $249.00, while I at least was able to score these at $169.00. Even so, this is much too high of a price to pay for ugly, slightly above average earbuds. As for these reviewers who awarded this product 5 stars...I imagine they must have upgraded from the standard ipod earbuds.
